LESBIAN CONNECTION MAGAZINE
I want to give a big plug to Lesbian Connection magazine. I mentioned in their last issue that we have a safe site for women to meet others for friendship. As a result we have had about a dozen new women join us, and I am grateful. If you are not familiar with the magazine, please subscribe to it. It is free to all lesbians, but the suggested donation is $42/yr if you can manage it. Check them out!
Once again I will be spending the cold Canadian winter in the Dominican Republic, so I won't be home to send any products from the Store. If you wish to purchase something from the Store, please do so before the end of November. Thanks!
LGBTQIA SAFE SEX GUIDE
Historically, when sex education was introduced to the general public, content was focused on puberty education for cisgender people, heterosexual sex, pregnancy prevention, and reduction of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). During that time, there was a great deal of stigma and discrimination associated with being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA). Gender-inclusive terms such as “nonbinary” and “trans” hadn’t yet entered mainstream language and culture.

CYNTHIA NIXON AND ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ SET A NEW STANDARD FOR NONBINARY INCLUSION
Conceding the race last night, Nixon tweeted, “To all the young people. To all the young women. To all the young queer people who reject the gender binary. Soon you’ll be standing here, and when it’s your turn, you’ll win.” This echoes a remark she made at her get-out-the-vote rally the night before the election, where she greeted the crowd, “Hello brothers, hello sisters, hello siblings that reject the gender binary.”

AMERICA’S FIRST TRANS CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR TALKS ABOUT HOPE… & DEATH THREATS
Christine Hallquist is a former energy executive who has stepped out from behind the CEO desk to step into the Vermont governor’s race. She’s married, and a parent.
She’s a long-time Democrat running to unseat a Republican governor in a state where that party has held the seat since 1963.
She’s also a transgender woman who, if successful, will be the first trans person to serve as a governor of an American state.

TRANSGENDER STUDENT IN FLORIDA CAN NOW USE MEN’S RESTROOM
Citing a district policy, the school had required him to use a gender-neutral bathroom before the ruling.
"This is a clear warning to every school school district in Florida and across neighboring states that if you have a policy that discriminates against transgender students, then you are subject to being sued and are likely to lose," said Omar Gonzalez-Pagan, an attorney for Lambda Legal, which represented Adams.

MX - A GENDER-NEUTRAL HONORIFIC ADDED TO MERRIAM-WEBSTER DICTIONARY
The gender-neutral Mx. is used as a title for those who do not identify as being of a particular gender, or for people who simply don't want to be identified by gender.
Though the earliest print evidence dates to 1977, the word has only recently become popular.
Pronounced to sound like mix or mux, the title Mx. (which, like other honorifics, is styled without the period in British English) is used increasingly on various official forms in the UK, including driver's licenses and banking documents.

UNIVERSITY OFFERS A FREE RIDE TO GAY TEEN ABANDONED BY PARENTS
Jacksonville, Fla. student Seth Owen, 18, had a 4.16 GPA and all the promise of the future. He just had no money to make it a reality. After his parents kicked him out of the house for being gay, he was on his own.
That’s when the town chipped in to help fund his college education and raised over $120,000 (the original crowdfunding goal was set at $100,000) so that he could attend Georgetown University.
However, an incredible thing happened after all the money was raised: Georgetown decided to waive his tuition. Completely.

THE LGBT COMMUNITY AND DEPRESSION: WHAT CAN PARENTS DO?
Depression remains one of the most pressing issues in the country, and one of the most overlooked. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, at least 16.2 million people in the US suffered at least one episode of depression. Women are more prone to be depressed than males, or at least double the rate (8.5% against the 4.8%, respectively). Adults between ages 18 and 25 have the highest rate of depression

FUNDAMENTALISM BY KAREN ARMSTRONG
It is wrong - and dangerous - to believe literal truth can be found in religious texts.
Human beings, in nearly all cultures, have long engaged in a rather strange activity. They have taken a literary text, given it special status and attempted to live according to its precepts. These texts are usually of considerable antiquity yet they are expected to throw light on situations that their authors could not have imagined. In times of crisis, people turn to their scriptures with renewed zest and, with much creative ingenuity, compel them to speak to their current predicament. We are seeing a great deal of scriptural activity at the moment.

QUEER SACRED SITES - FIRE ISLAND
I recently returned from a week vacation with my NYC queer family on Fire Island and that experience prompted me to think about queer sacred sites — that our queerness shouldn't be separate from our faith, that the two are intertwined, and how the divine is uniquely present in queerness.
Queerness is holy, y’all. ~ Queer Theology

TOP 15 BIBLICAL WAYS TO ACQUIRE A WIFE
The following is a confidential report on several candidates being considered for our church leader.
Adam: Good man but problems with his wife. Also one reference told of how his wife and he enjoy walking nude in the woods.
Noah: Former pastorate of 120 years with not even one convert. Prone to unrealistic building projects.
Abraham: Though the references reported wife-swapping, the facts seem to show he never slept with another man's wife, but did offer to share his own wife with another man.
Joseph: A big thinker, but a braggart, believes in dream-interpreting, and has a prison record.

MUSIC BY MARSHA STEVENS (BALM - Born Again Lesbian Music)
Many of you will know what a Godsend Marsha was to me in reconciling my faith with my sexuality. I have added 14 CD’s worth of her music to the website for your listening enjoyment and inspiration.
The CD’s are available for purchase on the CG Store, or you can download each song individually from Marsha’s website, OR you can listen to the music on your computer by going here.
For those who are not computer literate, you can buy computer speakers that plugin to the headphone jack, and you’ll have a really nice sound system for listening to music online.
I am growing in awareness all the time, and recently I have become aware that "Trans" is a rather restrictive title. For that reason I have changed that section of the website to "Transgender, Transsexual, Non-Binary" to make it more inclusive.
FOR ALLIES - 100 WAYS TO MAKE THE WORLD BETTER FOR NON-BINARY PEOPLE
1. There is no one non-binary experience. Celebrate and accept nuance. Embrace the contradictory and confusing. Be comfortable with not knowing everything.
18. Non-binary people can identify as non-binary men or non-binary women. If you're confused, that's OK. Remember: It's not about you! It's about respecting individuals' identities! Yay!
19. So, don't freak out when non-binary people don't use "they" pronouns. Non-binary people can use any pronouns they want. Some use "he" or "she" or "ze." Some non-binary people don't use any pronouns, and only want to be called by their name.
55. In religious spaces, such as in church, replace "brothers and sisters" with "siblings." For example: "Siblings in Christ."
97. Challenge when gender drop-downs say "Men," "Women," and "Transgender." Good intent may be there, but yikes is that wrong. Remember that "transgender" and "cisgender" are adjectives, not nouns or genders themselves.

WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM ST MARY, THE MOTHER OF JESUS? by Brother Lawrence Damien
What can we learn from St. Mary the Mother of Jesus that can apply to us today? Is she relevant to us today? Does she have anything to say to us now that will help us today? Recently I have been studying about Mary and trying to understand, venerate and honor her properly. The following is a study I believe God gave me on the subject.
